On September 26, 2018 we posted the following:
Annalyn, a freshman at Oregon City High School and the daughter of two of our LoveOne volunteers, recently asked her parents if she could do something a little different for her birthday. Instead of gifts, Annalyn would like to work with her friends to support teenage girls at the high school by providing them with basic items that many of us take for granted. Annalyn shared with us that while she knows she has a great life, there are many students who do not. She wants to support them, and "help them feel like a high schooler." (During the 2016-2017 school year, more than 300 students in the Oregon City school district were identified as homeless.)
When LoveOne heard about Annalyn's birthday request, we couldn't help but get excited - not only about the amazing things this young lady is going to accomplish - but the tangible way in which we can partner as a community to serve these students.📷❤️
LoveOne is contributing to Annalyn's "birthday bags" and we're asking that the Oregon City community consider pitching in as well. Annalyn's goal is to hand out 20 bags during the week of October 1, each filled with one of the following (full-size) items:
🌟 hair brushes (covered - Thanks Lila Williams Haskett!) 🌟 hair ties (covered - Thanks Lila!) 🌟 hair bands/clips 🌟 bracelets 🌟 feminine hygiene products 🌟 nail polish 🌟 toothbrushes (covered - Thanks Jacobsen Pediatric Dentistry!) 🌟 toothpaste (covered - Jacobsen Pediatric Dentistry) 🌟 face wash 🌟 lip balm 🌟 nail clippers 🌟 disposable razors 🌟 shaving cream/gel 🌟 shampoo 🌟 conditioner 🌟 soap/shower gel 🌟 lotion 🌟 gum/candy 🌟 ear buds 🌟 school supplies: pens, mechanical pencils, etc. 🌟 journals 🌟 gift cards: Dutch Bros, Menchies, Fred Meyer, etc. 🌟 20 drawstring bags (covered - Thanks Kirsty and Haskett Orthodontics!)

The response of the Oregon City community was overwhelming! Over the next three days, donations poured in - two car loads were picked up from Les Schwab (our local donation drop off location) - and additional donations were delivered to Annalyn's house. The Oregon City community rallied behind Annalyn and her desire to support students at the high school by providing them with basic items that many of us take for granted. The donations received will go to stock the OCHS student resource center, where students will receive a drawstring bag and be able to "shop" for what they need. We would like to say thank you to the Oregon City community and wish Annalyn a very happy birthday.❤️
