Everyone, please say hello to our Milwaukie coordinator Kerry McCombs! Kerry retired in 2006 from a landscaping business that he owned and ran for 15 years. Retirement allows Kerry to be at home with his son, and gives him the free time to do what he loves most: volunteer!
What would people be surprised to learn about you? There are a lot of things people don't know about me and I like it that way. 😉 A couple of things, though, I have two masters degrees: a Master of Divinity and a Masters in counseling and psychology.
How did you get started with LoveOne? I have been with the LoveOne board since the non-profit was founded, as one of the four original board members. I started volunteering with LoveOne because of my friend Dave McAdams - Dave kept talking about Laundry Love and what a blessing it is. Once I started volunteering I was hooked. I love meeting people where they are and making a difference in their lives. Although I have served at all of our laundry locations, I currently serve at the Milwaukie location on the third Wednesday of every month.
If you had a magic wand, what would you use it for? If I had a magic wand I would have a dedicated laundry facility to provide clean clothes and shower facilities for our neighbors in need to use whenever they need it.
What do you do when you aren't volunteering? I work in my garden and ride my motorcycle - two things that make me extremely happy.
