Milwaukie South - October

147 neighbors, 85 burritos, 60 Halloween stickers, 48 tacos, 15 Costco pizzas, 4 canopies, 3 tons of laundry, and 2 costumes: Wednesday was laundry night!

Special thanks to Rotary Club of Milwaukie, Oregon for sponsoring our event as well as volunteering, providing pizza and water, and bringing loads of donations.

Thank you to Stephanie and Milwaukie Lutheran Church for partnering with us in this work and bringing out the mobile clothes closet, to Providence Better Outcomes Through Bridges for providing burrito meals and an amazing team to do outreach, to The Father’s Heart for bringing out their housing team to volunteer with us, and to Grocery Outlet for the bottled water and on-site support.

When we all come together to love one person, one family, and one community at a time we literally change lives (including our own!).

We ran out of food toward the end of the evening, so Dan made a quick run to Taco Bell for party packs of tacos. One couple arrived late and stayed an extra 20 minutes for a few tacos because they hadn’t eaten since the day before.

We continue to see an overall increase in attendance and need, and a particular increase in houseless youth and families. Clackamas County has no overnight shelters and limited resources to assist folks who find themselves newly houseless, so we are requesting new or used family size tents (4 person or larger), sleeping bags and tarps for use as outdoor survival gear during inclement weather. Please message us to schedule a drop off.
