Here is a little recap of last night's Laundry Love event to let you all know how much your support is impacting our community and give you something to smile about đ:
We washed approximately 970 pounds of laundry last night and were able to offer a well stocked resource table as well as extend hope and encouragement to our neighbors in need (thank you for all the donations!). đđđđ
We were honored to be able to meet a few very real and basic needs for a woman who shared a heartbreaking story of sexual assault and domestic violence, and what she's going through as she establishes a new living situation. We celebrated last night with a couple who have been homeless since last summer and are now employed and will be moving into an apartment at the beginning of May. đ One of our regular and most cheerful guests recently got a job and found himself in need of a new pair of work gloves. Before the evening was over, a generous volunteer provided him with two pairs of new leather work gloves.
đAnd...I have an exciting announcement about donations: Oregon City Les Schwab Assistant Manager Chris Hargrave has graciously offered his store as a donation drop off location for Laundry Love. So the next time you drive by Les Schwab or are in getting your tires rotated, be sure to look for the laundry basket in the waiting area and let's get it filled up with supplies for next month!
đThank you to the Beavercreek Mom's Club for volunteering and bringing snacks, and to the many other individuals who dropped off donations. We had several new volunteers who jumped right in and were a HUGE help. To the gentleman who brought by a donation and helped run the dryers (I believe your name is John) - you rocked it!đAnd Katie DuVal, your help manning (womaning?) the washers was đŻ.
