Molalla Volunteer Tim Rice

Occupation: Operations Supervisor at Recology Organics

What might someone be surprised to to know about you? Clean and sober 15 years!

How did you first get involved with LoveOne? Sarah asked me to come to her house for a bbq to meet Dave and hear about it.

What has surprised you most about working with LoveOne? I've been most surprised that it feels pretty natural to do this.

What’s the hardest part about volunteering with LoveOne? The hardest part is only having events once a month because if it was an everyday thing, this is the way to transform the homeless community. We could build laundromats that have soup, showers, and clothes and it would be the first step for homeless people to feel sane again. One day at a time. Some of them would start volunteering and we would begin to see transformation. This would be a great success in big cities I think. Clean clothes, food and a shower are powerful tools. If you could reach even 20%, how many of those would want to help the others?

If you could change one thing about LoveOne, what would it be? If I could change one thing it would be for all the washers and dryers to work. To find out if the owner needs help moving these giants into place and hooking them up so we open up that space because we will need it.

What do you wish other people knew about LoveOne? I wish other people knew the feeling of going to bed at night and thinking of the smile you put on that one person's face and how thankful they were.

Tell us about someone who has influenced your decision to work with LoveOne. Dave McAdams influenced me with his speech and the burgers he made and the board that kept falling over in Sarah's yard. I was sold. I could see sincerity in his face about LoveOne and after all he's been through and going through...for this to be that important there must be something to it.
